Caravan is a short and sweet game that takes approximately two minutes to complete. Play as a shrew and collect all twenty of your babies to shepherd them home. Title card below. Itch link probably goes here. [Game content block would end here?? – separate “blog” post for postmortem + dev experience?? I don’t know man I’m trying to figure this out]
The code is modeled off of a three-dimensional version of snake. Adds an incremental value to the “weight” of the turns with each shrew in the chain to make the player feel heavier with a bunch of guys hanging off of them. For some reason when joining the train, shrews spawn at world origin and zip over to the back of the caravan, but it’s funny enough that I left it in.
Game was originally titled Rat Train, featured a flat green background, and used the model of a rat for the player character and mice for the babies. Mention that shrews actually do this by biting each other’s tails, typically when frightened, because of their low vision. Credit to asset sources (meshes, title card background, font).
